I took a picture of a few things that I will be using for the process.  The airbrush is brand new purchased it from Amazon and can't wait to use it.  I have never used one, but I am pretty good at teaching myself anything that is related to art. I bought synthetic doll hair for her, but I would have preferred a natural fiber.  Alpaca is on the list for future face ups.  A little bit of airbrush paint in a few colors I thought would work (we will see later how they turn out)  and a bottle of acetone polish remover no particular brand.  I will post a few more supplies as I go.  I still need a few specialized tools that I need to make.

Face off

Abbey is now has a clean face and I am beginning on the body.  She is blue and covered in a slight layer of glitter.  I don't want her to be blue so I am going to begin the process of removing the glitter all the way to her toes.  My goal is to airbrush her in a light tan to give her a natural more human look.  I used acetone based nail polish remover and Q-tips to remove eyes and lips.  So far it took the glitter off easily without causing damage to the plastic.  Hopefully the body is not any trouble.

Meet Abbey

Let me introduce you to Abbey.  She is my first project and one I hope will turn out great.  I am attempting my hand at face ups.  Over the coming weeks I will begin to take her down to where she started.  A blank face and no hair!  Seems almost a shame to do such a thing when there is absolutely nothing wrong with her to begin with.  Except for the fact that she is a little to "Grown up" for my three year old who has by the way stolen the other dozen or so dolls that I bought to do this with.  Oh well, I guess it will just be Abbey for now.  As I work through the process with Abbey I will post as I go along information and how I did it.  What I may have done right and all I may do wrong.  Should be fun!
